19. 11.

OOD John Mole and Pam Bland

The promised lighter conditions for the afternoon were very brief and 15 to 20 knot winds from the south west continued. Peccadillo and Dynamic Duo were to start in Division E and Dream On, Beaujolais, Little Miss (formerly Sofa) and Farr Side in Division F. Shipping movements were to occupy Hopetoun and Corio Channels so a course starting at St Helens, dog-legging around City 2 to the West Cardinal Mark off Steampacket Place, then out to CB2 near Point Henry and dog-legging around Hopetoun 14 and Corio 2 back to St. Helens twice around was set.

Dynamic Duo was first across the line. Peccadillo, struggling to lay the pin, switched to port tack and got an advantage. Both headed for the West Cardinal Mark.

Division F saw Dream On, Beaujolais and Farr Side start almost simultaneously, with Little Miss crossing 40 seconds later. All headed on a south easterly beat towards the West Cardinal Mark.

By the West Cardinal Mark, Peccadillo led Dynamic Duo and held the lead to CB2, gradually increasing the lead to the first pass of St Helens. Farr Side was just in front of Dream On with Beaujolais a short distance back and Little Miss struggling in the brisk conditions, was well back. Farr Side was 100m ahead of Dream On at St Helens, briskly executing the 180 degree turn around the mark. Beaujolais, another 10m back, rounded wide and continued in pursuit. Little Miss, conditions not suiting, was well back.

Another circuit and the places were unchanged in Division E. In Division F, Beaujolais made up some ground but, at the line, it was Dream On first, then Beaujolais, Farr Side and Little Miss.

After handicaps were applied, Peccadillo won both Club and YV in Division E; Beaujolais won Club and Dream On won YV in Division F. Congratulations to all and thanks to Pam for OOD assistance.
